Dare I say I am back? I needed a break to get readjusted in life. A time when I wasn't feeling my most creative. I also feel that my sources of inspiration all dulled seemingly together. Are we so inundated with images on the web now that everything looks the exact same? I must confess I rarely keep up with the blogs I once couldn't get enough of. Everything seems to be a bit meh. Even the magazines I receive in the mail have lost their luster. However, I recently spent a week feeling a bit under the weather, and during that time I endlessly perused tumbler and pinned my little heart out. Alas, I determined I wasn't finished sharing my musings and the images that catch my eye. On this gloomy, rainy Monday may you have a pep in your step and may your sun shine.

Heyo! I decided to take an unofficial break from here. While I love blogging, at times it can be a challenge to keep up. I thought this quote was quite fitting, because it has been the reoccurring theme I have been hearing from my friends lately. I miss having them in my immediate life. A life I try to live by enjoying the small moments, seizing opportunities, discovering, acting on spontaneity, being open to possibility, or simply letting go and having fun. Just when I feel so removed from my wonderful friends in their far away places, I get those e-mails, text messages, and phone calls. And I hear, "you only live once". As if I need some sort of confirmation for my potentially good or bad deeds that have me outside of the box life often puts around us.

I've returned from my trip to Paris, and it was everything I hoped for and more. Looking forward to exploring the possibilities that abound.

One of my all time favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz. I love the sense of wonder it brings about in addition to it's underlying theme "you've always had the power to....". Dorothy could have bypassed the adventure to Oz, because she had the power all along to return to home to Kansas. However, it took her making that journey (of ups and downs) before coming to the realization that she possessed such a power and to find the courage to actually use it.

MONDAY QUOTE

Alas! I am back after a rather long vacation....literally and figuratively. My last post was just before my 2.5 week jaunt to Peru. Machu Picchu and all 3 days leading up to it on the Inca Trail were simply amazing! After my return I soon jetted off to the west coast to celebrate the 30th birthday complete with convertible mustang and 3 lovely friends. Santa Barbara is my new favorite place! A weekend full of sunshine, differences, laughter, and wine. What more could a girl ask for? This was followed by Memorial Day fun in the sun and an out of town wedding weekend.

So much to take in in such a short amount of time! I would love to say that during my vacations I took long periods of time to reflect. Reflect about turning 30. Reflect about life. The truth is I was too tired from enjoying myself to reflect. I am just now feeling half way normal and while I may not have spent endless hours "reflecting" I do know that I have realized now more than ever than I am not perfect. And although I am hopelessly filled with imperfections, I know that I have grown and evolved into far greater a person than I had once imagined possible.

MONDAY QUOTE

Apologies for being so absent of late. I have been crazy busy. Sunday is the departure date for my trip to Peru, and I've been checking off a bajillion to-do's in preparation. I have long daydreamed about this trip and can't wait to immerse myself in the Peruvian way of life for 2.5 weeks. This weekend I prepped by doing a 10.2 mile hiking/camping trip. All I can say is look out Inca Trail 'cause I'm on my way.

I had such a wonderful weekend. The fam decided to come for a visit at the last moment. My days were filled with unforgettable mini moments with the niece & nephew, pizza night out, the park, tossing the football, retrieving said ball from stream, Chuck E Cheese, little helper hands in my garden, swinging, tickles, movie time, opportunities for sharing and learning.....

While my house was turned upside down and every leap around the room was a breath held in fear of something breaking, I sure do miss them. Oh how I wish those mini moments could have stretched on a bit longer.

MONDAY QUOTE

I apologize for being a bit MIA. I went home for a long weekend for some much needed family time, fresh air, and catch up sessions with old friends. I tried to squeeze in as much as possible: ice cream with the silly monkey niece, backroads with an old friend, the nephew's basketball game, sharing my bed with the silly monkey, obligatory Mexican food, meeting a friend's new baby girl followed by a quick drink with an old friend, waking up to the silly monkey sharing secrets with me in my bed, home cooked meals with the fam, visiting with the Aunt, a pitstop at the cousin's to meet her new puppy, and wrestle mania with the niece and nephew who were spending one last night to wrap it all up. Driving back this morning I was able to admire a wonderful sunrise, reflect with NPR, absorb the crisp countryside blanketed by frost, and indulge in Chick-Fil-A. Here's to a new week!
